About the Artist

Dilcia Cardoso, born in Cape Verde Islands on May 26th 1989, started to paint in the year 2013 after she got back from Madrid where she graduated in both Law and Journalism.

Completely self-taught and intuitive, her paintings have a strong ethereal vibe, where spirituality overlap the purely physical and figurative elements.

Drawn to dark and mysterious colors, her paintings portray a sense of depth and secrecy which is tangibly emotional, and gives rise to a peculiar and unmistakable artistic style.

Strongly Inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet and Joaquim Sorolla, Dilcia Cardoso’s paintings have main focus on women and their representation, ponds and flowers, a strong presence of golden tones, impressionistic brushwork, and a very defined identity and embedded with symbolism in each detail.

Each painting session is a meditation session.

With each canvas she tells a story.

With each brushstroke she shares a bit of her Soul with this world.
